Mermaid Gin is a premium gin brand produced by the Isle of Wight Distillery, founded in 2014 by Xavier Baker and Conrad Gauntlett. The distillery, located on the Isle of Wight, is the island’s first and only distillery, known for its commitment to sustainability and use of local, ethically-sourced ingredients. The key botanical in Mermaid Gin is rock samphire, locally nicknamed “mermaid’s kiss,” which is foraged from the island’s shores. Other botanicals include elderflower and Boadicea hops from Ventnor Botanic Gardens, and strawberries from the Arreton Valley.
